Momentun Mugged...........
Dear Mrs. Mx Manners. I am an
Intermediate Vintage MX racer
in Calif. My favorite tracks are
Tulare and Burnt Ridge. I race
a 125 Yamaha AT1mx in
Classic 125. This season at a
National, an expert passed me
and then proceeded to "Park it"
in the corners. I just maintained
my speed and line and
crowded him all the way. Is this
good track behavior?
Mrs. MotoCross Manners
Dear momentum Mugged, in Calif. I understand your pain,
recently while Christmas shopping, I was within inches of
grabbing the last Wii Supercross game for my grandson Dirk,
out from nowhere comes this 75 year old grandmother,
swoops my line,
Grabs the game and starts reading the back cover, basically
parking it. I was patient at first, but she was a slow reader,
and my breath on her bifocals was fogging them up, making it
harder for her to read, to see if it was the game her grandkids
really wanted. I stayed close and kept the fogging tactic up
for at least a minute, at which time I squeezed her between
myself and the Video game counter. When she dropped the
game, I cut under her and Dirk is going to be so happy.
As for you, YES! keep the pressure on him. Ride your race, it
will make you both better riders. In your case you will be
better in traffic and he will be learning to hustle up in the
corners .

Dear Mrs. Manners, I have
been racing the 100 Novice
class on a 1968 Hodaka 90.
The best finish I have had is a
7th place, but this week I put a
Preston Petty Mudder fender
on it-- and I fully expect to win
next week!!! My question is:
Should I bust out an old school
Jim Pomeroy Cross-Up at the
finish line - or maybe
something a little more
contemporary- like a Jeremy
McGrath Nac-Nac for the
younger chicks? Thanks for
your reply,Charlie
"bust-a-move" Bustamante
.
Dear Mr.Bust a move, I know what you mean about old vs.
new school moves and their importance in impressing the
opposite sex. When my husband and I went to the office
Christmas party for his work, I didn't know whether to do my
twist or Hippy or Disco moves that I am so good at, or to just
Hump, hunch and grind like all the young sluts on the dance
floor. So, I did a little of both, to let the kids know what class
looks like but, also to let them know I can still move with the
best of them.

As for you, My husband never won anything on his 90 until he
put on a Super rat Cylinder, carb, pipe and a webco head.
Then he still would whine about the four speed gearbox. He
did win a moto though and finished second overall behind a
Kawi Centurion. He did a really sexy wheelie at the finish line,
and I gave him his Trophy when we got home.My advice is to
do ALL the tricks you can,  and you might get your trophy
when YOU get home.
