1979 Maico Magnum 400 For Sale
Professionally built with Maico Only / Thor aluminum swingarm,
Works Perfomance shocks, flex free '81 forks (Maico Only rods, legal travel
and shorter '79 steering stem), Maico Only pipe, silencer and pegs, Mikuni carb, Sun rims with
Buchanan spokes, Rage Racing shifter and case saver, Renthal bars aluminum rear hub drilled
to accept '81 sprockets, and powdercoated frame and swingarm. Cylinder has been cleaned up
and matched, but porting is stock. Clutch redone by Lynn Shoup at Rage Racing last season.
The gas tank is in great shape.
This bike was a 2006-2007 AVDRA Class Champion. The bike was then purchased in the
Winter of 2007 by its present owner and completely gone through by Carlos Serrano. New
Wiseco Pro Lite piston (77.50) and bore job (only 1 hour on it), forks gone through and shocks
dyno'd by Carlos Serrano, all new fenders, number plate and side panels, motor and
transmission dissassembled and gone thru, new chain and sprockets, new air filter, new throttle
assembly, new cables, and new Wheelsmith style clutch spring (not washers).
A great looking, solid, race or show winning bike in top condition. It combines the legendary
handling of the Magnum (said to be the best handling Maico years ever), the great front forks
from the '81 Mega, and the silky smoothness of the 400 motor.
