. The dirt at Taft is a good mixture of sand
and clay. The only concern you'll have with
the track is, the clay component in the
soil, when over watered, can make for
THE GREASY "Crisco Ride". There
wasn't a rock to be found on the MX
track, so low tire pressures were in order,
some people were running as low as 8-9,
I wasn't that brave even with the "Crisco
factor"  for me 12 front 15 rear. The track
owners are Great and love Vintage
Racers. At the Awards presentation, one
was heard to say, "I've gotta get me one
of those old bikes so I can play with you
guys, it just looks like TOO MUCH FUN!!"
There were several bikes for sale in the
immediate area, so everyone present
started pointing at them and said "There's
one, and there's one" at which point one
of us asked how he finished, in the
support class he raced. He said proudly
2nd overall, so we pointed to a mini bike
without an engine and said "that's the one
for you". The whole place broke out in
LOL.     He was Great and a good host.
Camping was easy, bring everything you
need, it's primitive but flat, which I
appreciate. Track access is good, Porta
pots reasonably clean. Overall recent
rating 1-10, 10 being a place with
hookups and showers 1 being a " hide
behind a tree" dust bowl. I give Taft a 7.5,
the highest rating for a place with primitive
camping.  Robin Hannah # 960
