Tulare Transformation
Tulare AHRMA National 2008
It's all in the Dirt.....
#10 Nor/Cal MX Legend Dave Coupe'
was there to enjoy Rick Hollenbeck's
awsome new track. Talking to Rick
,our host, after the races, I found out
he hauled in thousands of yards of
beautiful dirt.
Look at the roost up above
and the dirt under Jon Evans
Maico. It was so good. I'll be
honest, I really didn't like
Tulare last year. It was
hardpack,blue groove, the flow
wasn't there. It felt disjointed
and stuck together. Square
edged chuck holes, banged
you up as you tried to stay
focused and on the track. The
dirt fought you, and hard.
This year Hollenbeck put in a lot of
work, you could tell. It wasn't
anything like last year. The DIRT
was loose and natural. The flow of
the track was excellent. Multiple
lines were not only possible but
were fun to play with. Rick had
transformed the ugly catapiller
track into a beautiful Butterfly of an
MX race track. In several of my
classes I got into dices, and I would
be racing two abreast on the track
and felt completely safe doing it.
Thank you Rick, I think I can speak
for most of us that raced there that
we appreciate your extra effort in
making this track into such a cool
place to race.
